A Brief Introduction to my Style of Food Writing
It’s important to me to emphasize foods and places of marginalized people. When, in 2024, with technology soaring, making it easier than ever to connect with anyone anywhere, we are unraveling the work that was necessary for the marginalized to live in a just world. Ending policies like Affirmative Action, taking away Women’s Rights to abortion, banning books on racism… What’s next? Taking back my right to vote because some political group realized it was better when we kept women quiet and in the home?
There’s a phrase we say in the restaurant business to calm each other down when service gets stressful. “It’s just food.” That may be true in the scope of, “It’s not open heart surgery,” but for the sake of equality, respect and understanding food is the only thing that has the ability to unite us all.
